Help the Garden Grow!
The Pickering Valley Elementary School garden is a twelve raised - bed garden that grows produce for the Chester County Food Bank
The Chester County Food Bank distributes over 2 million pounds of food per year to over 100 organizations including food cupboards, meal sites and other social service non-profit organizations in their efforts to feed more than 70,000 local families.
The Garden Committee at Pickering Valley is made up of students and families who maintain the beds and surrounding areas of the garden, plant and pick produce that is then delivered to the Food Bank, and weed on an ongoing basis throughout the year. PV teachers are encouraged to bring their classes out to participate in garden activities.
We are ALWAYS looking for others who are interested in helping with the garden.
Ways you can help include:
• Harvesting crops
• Laying mulch
Please contact Laura Woerner
and/or Natalie Lucca
